Dynasto Afedo: The Game Developer Who Made The Ghananian Car Racing Game
For about two weeks now, Ghanaian video game lovers have been enjoying a very different kind of video game.
This is a home made car racing video game created by Dynasto Afedo.
Unlike many car racing games found on the internet, where the most luxurious and sporty vehicles are the fastest and players use that to race, Dynasto’s game had a plot twist.
Players of his game use commercial vehicles such as taxis, buses and others. Which are not known for their speed- to race.
Since his game was released for download on Google Play. It has received a lot of commendation.
One thing that surprised us the most is that Dynasto is a self taught game developer. His background is actually in business – not your regular tech geek.
Dynasto is an alumnus of the University of Ghana, University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He was awarded a Diploma in Public Administration, Bsc. Business Administration and Bsc. Marketing, respectively.
Kuulpeeps.com reached out to Dynasto for a Q&A interview where he talked about the amazing feedback he has received and future plans for his game.
Kuulpeeps.com: Congratulations on your game. It must have been one hectic thing to do. Why and when did you decide to create this car racing game?
Dynasto: Two years ago I gave my self a task to develop a game, because it was an idea I could try my skills on, especially because gaming is universal.
Kuulpeeps.com: What seems to interest a lot of people is the fact that players will use taxis to race against more luxurious vehicles, why the plot twist though?
Dynasto: Representation, I think I wanted people to see what represents a part of our identity in terms of transportation and they relate to it especially because this is a racing game.
Kuulpeeps.com: What have been some of the inspiring moments since you published the game and players started using it?
Dynasto: I was very nervous to put out the game because I wasn’t sure how people would receive it, but the support has been unreal and I’m grateful for the opportunity.
Kuulpeeps.com: What were some of the challenges you faced while developing the game?
Dynasto: Generally, it was just knowing what to do. I’m aware that this is not my field of expertise and sometimes I’m reminded of that when I’m stuck at tasks that I ordinarily shouldn’t be stuck at. But I get help when that happens or rely on templates to help guide me.
Kuulpeeps.com: Do you think the tech ecosystem in the country is strong enough to create room for more game developers?
Dynasto: I think if we have the required support, there’s absolutely nothing we can’t do. Just check on Instagram and see the things people are working on and you will be amazed. This can be resolved when there is enough financing and exposure for game developers.
Kuulpeeps.com: You mentioned earlier that your background is in business and that you work for a Fuel Automation company. Do you see game development as a career path or just a hobby?
Dynasto: It’s both, but I think the expectation is high now so I need to continue building something that people will love and approve.
Kuulpeeps.com: Are there any planned developments for the existing game?
Dynasto: There is a whole load of work to be done. And I intend to put in all effort to ensure that this is done. A big thank you to everyone. Now that the game is out there, I’m taking all the comments and feedback and I’m hoping to come out with something that everyone finds satisfactory.
Congratulations Dynasto!!
