313,837 SHS 3 students to sit for 2020 WASSCE – Akufo-Addo

A total of 313,837 SHS 3 students across the country will sit for the forthcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), President Akufo-Addo has disclosed.
The President revealed this figure in his 12th televised nation’s address. Updating the citizenry on measures put in place to ensure the safety of students on June 22 reopening.
Akufo-Addo announced that his government has absorbed the WASSCE examination. For fees of the estimated 313,837 SHS 3 students to sit for the WASSCE examination. He said GH¢75.4 million will be spent on this.
“These SHS 3 students, also referred to by some as the ‘Akufo-Addo graduates’,. They are the first group of beneficiaries of Government’s Free Senior High School policy to sit the WASSCE exams,”. Akufo-Addo said.
His Excellency added that about 1.2 million children. Which is the highest enrolment in the country’s history are currently in various Senior High Schools. Amid the implementation of the Free SHS policy in September 2017.
Also, “We introduced Free SHS because history, and the experiences of developed nations. Which have shown that the most efficient way to empower the population. And, thereby, guarantee the future of the nation, is by investing in education and skills training of the youth”.
The President indicated that SHS 3 students will be in school for a total of 6 weeks, before sitting for the WASSCE exams over a period of 2 weeks.
“SHS 2 Gold Track students, who are returning to complete their first semester like their Green Track colleagues have done, will be in school for six (6) weeks, before going on vacation”. he added.
