A press release from the office of the public relations office of the Ghanaian university has indicated that Professor Mrs. Rita Dickson has been appointed to serve a four-year term.
This follows the expiry of the mandate of the current Vice-Chancellor Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso whose mandate ends in August 2020.
Professor Dickson who was formerly a Pro Vice-Chancellor of the university will begin his tenure on August 1 2020.
Therefore, the University Council made the decision for her appointment at its 258th meeting held on Thursday, June 25, 2020. After accepting the report of the Vice-Chancellor search committee formed to find a replacement for the outgoing Vice-Chancellor Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso.
Before her appointment, Professor Dickson was the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. A role she was appointed to in September 2018. Also, she was a professor of Pharmacognosy at the same institution. She is also a researcher who researched in fields like Bioactive Natural Products, Phytochemistry and Quality Control of Phytomedicines.
