Sir John Former NPP General Secretary passes away
Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has passed away, 3news.com can confirm. The renowned lawyer passed away at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness, 3news.com gathered.
Moreover, until his death, Mr Owusu Afriyie was the Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission. He died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 after an illness.
Also, he was 63-years-old [1957-2020]. Sir John recently lost a sister of his. He went and performed the one-week rites at his hometown, Sakora Wonoo near Kumawu in the Ashanti Region.
However, when he returned to Accra. He fell ill and was admitted to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. He reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Sir John previously worked at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC). As a Deputy Chief Executive Officer in an acting position during President John Kufuor’s administration. And also as head of Legal Services.
