About two major subject papers to be written on the September 5 with only hour break. The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has petitioned WAEC to review the Ghana version of the 2020 WASSCE timetable. Which will help to reduce the stress levels on candidates.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has scheduled for the 2020 WASSCE. This will to officially kick start from August 3 and end on September 5, 2020. Meanwhile, the practical aspect of the examination commenced on Monday, July 20, 2020.
NUGS after reviewing a copy of the 2020 WASSCE timetable. They made available to them noticed that. Two major subject papers are to be written by the business students on the same day. Which is just with only an hour’s break on the ending day of the examination, September 5, 2020.
“The Union identifies with the position of education advocacy think factory. The Africa Education Watch that such an appointment which makes students sit for 2 major elective papers. For as long as almost seven hours, with only an hour’s break, is ‘strenuous’ and goes against ‘international standards of assessment at the secondary level’,” it stated.
The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) consequently with the above-stated reason. They are calling the West African Examinations Council to review the Ghana version of the timetable. By postponing one of the two papers to another day. So as to reduce the stress of the prospective candidates in these challenging times. Amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The Union also wished all the 375,737 candidates sitting for Integrated Science on August 3, 2020, the best of luck in their examination.
However, in a statement copied to Georgeweb.org stated: “The Union is cognizant of the fact that these are not the best times to be undertaking such an exercise of writing examinations, and needs to congratulate all our gallant brothers and sisters who are defying the chances to require their final examinations”.
NUGS additionally urged all persons associated with the conduct of the examination particularly candidates, supervisors and invigilators to strictly adhere to all the coronavirus preventive protocols before, during and after the examination.
