GNAT CALLS FOR ARREST OF VIOLENT STUDENTS.
The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has called on authorities to arrest violent students. A number of condemnable acts by WASSCE candidates has been on the headlines this week. This all follows the ongoing WASSCE examinations.
ISSUES:
However, on numerous occasions has this happened. Viral videos have some students from Tweneboah Kondua SHS complaining of strict invigilation. Also, after which they decide to riot and destroy school property.
Also, at Bright SHS, Kukurantumi WAEC officials were attacked. A journalist who got to the incident too was assaulted. The assaulted Daily Graphic Reporter was severely injured.
Moreover, in other schools the story is no different. Also, bitter complains of unreflecting distributed past questions at the final exams. This was much resented leading to the vandalism recorded.
Ndewura Jakpa SHS vandalised properties in protest of social distancing in the examination hall.
Most importantly, to top it up is a viral video of a student insulting the President of the Republic. However, a candidate in a viral video openly used vulgar words at the President blaming him them not able to do their best at the examinations.

CONDEMNATIONS:
These acts are frowned upon by society. Ghanaian society calls this moral decadence and highly prohibited. Therefore, various groups and individuals have openly condemned the acts. The ‘violent’ students have been chastised and many are calling for them to be sanctioned. However, GES, WAEC and CHASS have rendered their displeasure.
GNAT’S CASE.
GNAT is the association of all teachers in the country. Their members are the victims of this violent acts by some of these unscrupulous candidates. Their President has revealed their stance on this. They join all stakeholders to condemn it. Not only condemn it but call for such students to be arrested. Philipa Larson in an interview on PM Express said it is unlawful acts the students are engaging in. She further reiterated that security agencies should step in. She lamented that they cannot watch their members threatened or harmed.
GES SANCTIONS.
GES earlier this week spelt out some sanctions. Also, they encouraged head of schools to deboardenise such students who will be found guilty. GES Director Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa stated that any property destroyed will be surcharged guilty students.
