The security personnel were trained on General Security, Emergency Medicine, Criminal Psychology, Substance Abuse, Crime Scene Management, and Bioterrorism.
Skills and Competence
Moreover, in his address, the Chairman of Campus Security and Safety Committee, Dr. Akwasi Ayanful, noted that security on the University campus was not at its best hence, there was the need to enhance the skills and competences of the security guards. He entreated the security personnel to take the workshop seriously to acquire knowledge to carry out their duties efficiently.
Also, the Director of the Human Resource, Rev. Isaac Baafi Sarbeng, informed participants that the training was organized purposely for them to acquire knowledge and skills to perform their duties well. However, “We want you to exhibit very good conduct and be disciplined in your work,” he urged.
Topics
The security personnel were taken through how to conduct themselves while on duty, values they were to exhibit, and law and security. There were practical presentations on how to administer first aid in various situations such as shocks, bleeding, choking how to administer CPR.
Also, present at the programme was the Director of Legal Consular and General Services, Mrs. Alberta Y. Graham; the Chief Security, DCOP Patrick Adusei Sarpong (rtd); the Project Director for Forensic Investigation for National Development (FIND Ghana), Mr. Abu Sulemana Mohammed and other facilitators from FIND Ghana. .
