New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters union in Sefwi Juaboso have kicked out a press statement by a pressure group which questioned the character of the District Chief Executive (DCE).
It by an initial statement, the group tagged DCE Madam Martha Kwayie as divisive, autocratic, and a leader that lacks vision to steer the party to victory in 2024.
The group, among other things, said she performed poorly in the elections, as she gave her contender, Mr Akandoh, chance to widen the gap with over 51% of the votes.
A major situation they said raised eyebrows is the fact that all leading campaign team members of Madam Kwayie bought new cars right after the general elections.
Thus, they appealed to President Akufo-Addo not to “appoint such a character into our enviable and result- oriented governance rather we need: selfless, Competent and hardworking people to serve God and Country”.
In a counter statement, the grassroots of the party in the district have debunked every accusation labeled against Madam Kwayie.
They further stated no such group exists within the district, leaving them to believe it is a ploy by opposition party to bring disrepute to the NPP.
The NPP supporters are urging the public to treat the statement as a propaganda meant to create confusion among party members.
“In fact, between 2012 and 2020 when Martha Kwayie Manu has led the party into the election, there has has been great gains as the EC figures can clarify. Before she took over in 2012, her predecessor trailed by less that 30% of total vote cast in the parliamentary election in 2008.
Today she has increased that vote to 45% of total vote cast in 2020. Her performance had same impact on the presidential results. She is the eye of the NPP and the opposition is trying as hard as they can to work her down, but the NPP is focused”, Collins, a polling station youth organizer in Antobia D. A Primary said.
“The party wish to state without equivocally that before and after 2020 elections the party had no group in the constituency. There’s no existence of any pressure group with Sampson Tano and Mohammed Alhassan as spokesperson for any group. We urged the public and NPP supporters to treat such news publication as tool from the propaganda party, the NDC to create confusion among the party members,” a portion read.
Despite Madam Martha Kwayie losing the elections, the Juaboso grassroots believe she should be elevated into a higher office since her achievements are unmatched and one of the few females to contest on the ticket of NPP in an NDC stronghold for 3 consecutive times.
She is a gem for the party in the constituency.
