
The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) says it is on course to secure a package that involves data bundles, Airtime, SMS bonuses for teacher trainees in public Colleges of Education to continue academic activities online amid the outbreak of covid-19
The General Secretary of NUGS, Hon Anthony Kwame Julius speaking on behalf of NUGS president, Hon Emmanuel Boakye Yiadom said the Union has engaged Ghana’s leading telecommunication networks MTN and Vodafone to provide the package.
According to Anthony Kwame Julius, MTN Ghana has agreed to provide the internet package along with other benefits but Vodafone is yet to respond to their statement
“MTN has come to the negotiation table and is willing to provide the internet package with other benefits but Vodafone has not actually given a comprehensive statement of the deal,” NUGS General Secretary said in a statement
As part of the package he said teacher trainees will enjoy;
- 2.8 GB data bundles monthly
- 320 minutes of airtime monthly
- 150 On-net minutes
- 35 SMS across all networks
- 100MB lifestyle bundle
- 500MB for academic sites daily
The package the General Secretary of NUGS said will go for a cool GH₵ 10.00 per month and not for free.
