UCC & KNUST Joins Green Ghana Project To Plant 5 Million Trees On Friday
University of Cape Coast and Kumasi-based Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has joined the Green Ghana Project, an initiative launched by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to plant 5 million trees on June 11.

The Green Ghana Project also dubbed “One student, One tree” according to the Minister for Lands, Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor has said forms part of efforts to restore the forest cover of the country.
“It is important to recognize that the country is depleted, statistics are frightening and the lack of aggressive afforestation has resulted in the depletion of the forest cover of the country,” he stated at the launch of the initiative.
“The time for action is now, we have to do something drastic and dramatic about it and this is why in accordance with Akufo-Addo and his instructions we have developed a two prone strategy to reverse the situation,” Mr Jinapor added
According to the Minister, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources is committed to achieving the goal of one student planting a tree on June 11, 2021, which marks Green Ghana Day.
