Deputy Minister for Education-designate, Gifty Twum Ampofo Thursday said the Education Ministry had submitted two educational bills to Parliament to enable TVET students/beneficiaries to also benefit from the Free SHS policy.
The Abuakwa North Member of Parliament disclosed this when she appeared before the Parliament Appointments Committee for her vetting and approval process monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh on Thursday, June 10, 2021.
Gifty Twum Ampofo told the Committee that adoption of the career-focused education module was the way to go if the country wants to build a generation of graduates who will be agile and fit for purpose for the industry.
“Ghanaians perception on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has been a challenge as, most people think TVET is for the less intelligent and added that another challenge had to do with financing,” she noted.
This the Educationist said is why a bill had been sent to Parliament for TVET beneficiaries to also benefit from the popular free SHS policy for the students to have a grasp of theory in school and balance it with practical skills.
Asked about her view of comprehensive sex education, the nominee said she does not support an education that provides children with knowledge of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer or questioning (LGBTQ).
