As final year requirement, a group of final year event management students from the Department of Theatre Arts of the University of Education, Winneba honoured Okyeame Kwame, Dr. Faustina Brew(Playwright/lecturer), and Dr. Johnson Edu(Scenic Designer/Makeup Artist).
The event dubbed CELEGENDS, was held on Wednesday 14th July, 2021 at the Amu Theatre, University of Education, Winneba. The hub of Creative Arts in Ghana, the Theatre Department of UEW was honoured to host some great achievers in the Creative Arts industry and celebrate them.
Dr. Faustina Brew is noted for her plays: Murder of The surgical Bone, The Prisoner, and The Hot Chair.
Murder of the Surgical Bone, her maiden play, explores domestic violence and its possible psychological effect on direct and indirect victims.
Mr. Johnson Edu is also notable for turning Koo Ofori into Rawlings, and creation of quasi-Terry Bone Shaker with special effect makeup, and many other feat.
During this remarkable event, Mr. Kwame Nsiah-Apau(Okyeame Kwame) who was also part of the celebrities inspired the young adults, especially students from Music and Theatre Arts Department to strive and pursue their careers.
He said, every field in the world has someone who is wealthy; and so, they shouldn’t runaway from what they are studying when they graduate and venture into banking and other fields, instead love the talents they posses, be serious of it, and he is confident it will generate the worth that they seek for and also make the creative arts industry better.
Though the event was a final year project, it’s a good one that the nation should adopt. Our living legends should be celebrated whilst they are alive, and not wait till they are no more part of us.
