University of Cape Coast wins Ghana Novice Debate Championship
The University of Cape Coast Debate Society participated in the 2nd edition of the Ghana Novice Debate Championship (GNDC’21). GNDC is a tournament organized for debaters, who have less than a year’s experience in British Parliamentary debate, across various public universities in the country.
UCC made a 2nd appearance this year, having made it to the finals in the first edition. The tournament saw teams from about 7 universities participating. It was tightly contested.
At the end of the tournament, Team UCC bagged the various awards: Best Public Speaking Judge, Top 5 Public Speakers, Best Judge, 4th Best Judge, Best Speaker, 2nd Best Speaker and won the ultimate! After a heated grand finale round, Team UCC 1, made up of Godfred Nana Sakyi Boakye and Haneef Mohammed were declared winners of the tournament.
Congratulations to all participants from the Coast! The Debate Society and the University is super proud of what you have achieved. As reigning champions, we still held our heads up high and say, “Venité et arguite me”
