Headybrains Theatre celebrated its 5th anniversary on December 30, 2023, with the captivating play “No Syringe Attached” at the Christian Restoration Ministry International, Windy Ridge – Takoradi. Crafted by the talented Mr. Evans Apraku, this performance showcased the vibrant creativity of Headybrains Theatre House, the leading theatre production house in the Western Region.
Over its five years, Headybrains Theatre has consistently delivered engaging dramas, including acclaimed plays such as “Fate of the Nation Address,” “Daddy’s Roommate,” and “Bed of Wonders.” Beyond traditional venues, they’ve embraced unconventional spaces, performing at churches, weddings, and various other locations.
In the recent milestone at Windy Ridge, Takoradi, Headybrains Theatre transformed a church into a captivating theatre space for “No Syringe Attached.” Set in contemporary Ghana, the play unfolded at the Healing Heart Hospital, where Dr. Mensah, a skilled middle-aged doctor, faced an unexpected patient—his estranged father, Mr. Tony. The storyline delved into kidney failure, revenge, and societal issues, ultimately revealing Dr. Mensah’s hidden connection to the hospital.
“No Syringe Attached” not only entertained but also addressed pressing social issues like unemployment, the consequences of one’s actions, escalating dialysis fees, and raised awareness about kidney disease. The narrative included characters like Seguwa, a hospitality graduate turned hospital cleaner, emphasizing the importance of adaptability in life.
Through the play’s commentary on the rising cost of dialysis and its call for government intervention, Headybrains Theatre advocated for change in healthcare. The production highlighted the consequences of holding onto grudges, illustrating the cliché “reaping what you sow” in a poignant manner.
CEO Mr. Evans Apraku, in his closing remarks, pledged to continue delivering top-notch productions. He expressed a desire for corporate support to elevate Headybrains Theatre House in Sekondi-Takoradi to be the best in Ghana and among the finest in Africa. The promise of exceptional productions and a call for corporate backing underscored Headybrains Theatre House’s commitment to enriching the cultural landscape of Sekondi-Takoradi.
