Transport fares remains unchanged despite fuel reduction- Transport Minister confirms

Transport Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe has announced that there will be no immediate reduction in transport fares, despite recent cuts in fuel prices.
His statement comes as Ghanaians increasingly call for fare reductions, following earlier threats by transport unions to raise prices during fuel hikes.
Speaking on the issue, Mr. Nikpe explained that transport fare adjustments are determined through a specific formula, which has not yet triggered a change.

“I’m in constant touch with the unions and transport operators. We follow a set formula to adjust fares, and the current conditions don’t yet warrant a reduction,” he clarified.
He assured commuters that the Ministry remains in active discussions with all stakeholders, prioritizing both commuter relief and the sustainability of transport operations.
“We are working closely with all parties involved, and for now, transport fares will remain stable,” he said.
